The Heart and Stroke Foundation has released a “Make Health Last” campaign to help Canadians make healthy choices that will set us up for years of good health. Research has shown that while we’re living longer, a lot of us aren’t living our last 10 years in good health and are battling illness and chronic disease. Take their survey to see what your last 10 years will look like: https://makehealthlast.ca/. When you get your report, click on “Your Health Risks” for a breakdown of your results.

If your risk score is low, congratulations and keep up the good work! If your score is high, it’s time to be proactive and get back on track! There are lots of things we can do to make our health last, and that often starts with going back to the basics in terms of proper nutrition, physical activity, managing stress, and getting a good night’s sleep. Wondering which factor has the greatest impact on your overall health? Exercise! Just 150 minutes of physical activity per week can add four quality years to your life. So make sure you go for a walk this weekend and enjoy the warmer weather!

Naturopathic doctors are trained to help people make positive lifestyle choices in order to enjoy vibrant, healthy lives. They can also develop personalized programs tailored to your individual risk score and needs, as well as address any chronic health conditions you may be experiencing now. Small changes can go a long way to making your health last!
